Empowering Children In 10 Rajasthan Villages
The Leela has joined hands with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation and has extended its support by sponsoring 10 Bal Mitra Grams or Child-Friendly Villages in Rajasthan.
About Bal Mitra Gram™ (BMG™)
The Bal Mitra Gram (BMG™) model focuses on holistic child protection. These child-friendly villages provide a safe environment to children by involving parents and stakeholders in supporting child rights. Children in these villages are empowered to take a stand for themselves. BMG™ model ensures every child is free, safe, healthy, and educated.
The Impact
In just one year of implementation, KSCF-The Leela Partnership has managed to bring remarkable transformation in 10 Bal Mitra Grams. Over 2,100 households have been impacted under the initiative, resulting in the protection of 4,256 children. Giving a boost to education for all, 245 children have been enrolled in schools, while 6 have been rescued from the shackles of child labour. Ten libraries have also been set up in these villages, with over 2,400 books available on the shelves.
Awareness Camps In Bal Mitra Grams
Additionally, awareness camps are organised in these Bal Mitra Grams on topics like the importance of education, ways and significance of water conservation, voter awareness, harmful consequences of child marriage, and ending caste discrimination.
