Program Impact
School Enrollment
- School enrolment (ages 6-14) up from 88% to 98%
- 190 children withdrawn from work for school enrolment
- Regular followup with schools to ensure good attendance
- 458 children enrolled in private schools through EWS
Child Leadership
- 11 children were elected as leaders in each community through the Bal Panchayat. Over 1400 children voted in the election to select a total of 44 leaders who will be advocating for issues in their community such as safety and security of children, education, sanitation, and water
Community Participation
- Over 900 children marched in 20 rallies
- 450 women and children attended 4 health camps
- Over 2700 children joined in child rights awareness sessions
No Reported Case of Child Exploitation
- No reported cases of child marriage, child sexual abuse or child labour in any of our communities
- 2 missing children that were later found
Partnership With Other NGOs & Institutions
- Through partnership with 4 other NGOs, over 300 children have access to remedial education and livelihood programs
- 42 children from Sanjay Camp are enrolled in a twice a week English program at the American Embassy School
Government Engagement
- Water pipelines laid in Sanjay Camp
- New school inaugurated in Indra Kalyan Vihar by Rajnath Singh and BMM children
- NDMC initiated Special Training Classes for dropout children
- Nearby police stations taking more active interest in the communities
- Aadhar enrolment percentage up to almost 90%
Volunteer Engagement
- Over 1600 volunteers engaged with BMM through Rang Badlav Ke where hundreds of volunteers, artists, writers and photographers to paint, beautify, photograph and storytell about the Sanjay Camp slum community
- Over 200 volunteers provided math, science, reading, theatre, dance, sports and entrepreneurial sessions for the community
Coporate Engagement
- Subway conducted a career session in Indra Kalyan Vihar where 40 youth learnt how to make a good CV and how to interview
- Shalimar Paints and Nestle provided paint and Maggi noodles for Rang Badlav Ke in Sanjay Camp
Media Engagement
- 8 articles have been written about the conditions and activities in BMM communities - media involvment helps trigger positive change in public opinion and leads to pressure on the local authorities and government
