The Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation is organising a volunteer and community participation event at Sanjay Camp, an urban slum of over 10,000 people in the heart of Chanakyapuri - surrounded by the embassies of the world. This event is a part of the Bal Mitra Mandal (BMM) programme that aims to build child-friendly urban slum communities where every child is safe, free, healthy and educated.
"Rang Badlav Ke" (Paint the Change) - will be held on two consecutive weekends (October 6, 7 and 13,14). In association with colour partner Shalimar Paints, this event will mobilize hundreds of volunteers, artists, writers and photographers to paint, beautify, photograph and storytell about the Sanjay Camp slum community. It is a wonderful way for volunteers to engage with the local community and make an impact. You can sign up for either the morning or the afternoon slot on any one of the four days, as either a base-coat painter, artist, writer or photographer!
A portion of Sanjay Camp was painted through another initiative by Button Mushrooms. Through this event, in partnership with the Button Mushrooms team, the entire Sanjay Camp can be finished beautifully in time for Diwali! Check out this video to get a sense of what volunteers were able to do.
