Tactical Response Against Child Cyber Exploitation (TRACE)

The programs division of KSCF has been working to integrate technology in ensuring the justice delivery systems are modernised and provide correct data for taking timely action. In line with this mission, KSCF helped the Government of Maharashtra to tackle child pornography and other forms of online child sexual exploitation via digital platforms. Find below a summary of the TRACE program where KSCF assisted:

Setting up of TRACE Unit

The Government of Maharashtra has successfuly setup a TRACE Unit in association and support from Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF). For this programme, KSCF has provided Human Resource, Software and Training Support to the Government. A technical person has been placed by KSCF at the office of the concerned unit to work on the software/tools, in generating reports , analyzing the report and present them in a coherent manner. The Unit is expected to generate evidences, records and information related to the crimes covering child pornography , child abuse and issues related to children.

Piloting of TRACE Unit with the help of Web Based Tools

Maharashtra Cyber has been provided with ICACCOPS (Internet Crimes against Children Child On-line Protection System) which is a tool for monitoring and reporting CSAM Materials on Peer to Peer Networks such as Bit Torrent, Enmule, Guntella, etc ICACCOPS supports investigations of Internet chat rooms, online solicitations, enticements and dark web activity. ICACCOPS also provides critical investigative resources for Task Force investigators. The unit has started working with the use of the ICACCOPS software, gathering the data sets, results and information. The pilot based unit will be a full functional unit for live demonstration and implementation of the software/tools

A training to Cyber Officials in two phases has been conducted of the Constables, Police Inspector, Assistant Police Inspectors and Superintendent of Police. Maharashtra Cyber required training on cyber security, computer & digital forensics, investigation techniques, cyber crime trend awareness. Some of the topics for the training are as follows:
