Rewarded by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan state for his excellence in 10th board, Rajesh a former survivor of child labour made the Satyarthi Movement proud by securing 82% marks in 12th board as well. Rajesh is currently pursuing Bachelor of Science (Physical science with Electronics) degree from Rajdhani College, Delhi University.
Hailing from Akbarpur village of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan, Rajesh comes from a marginalised family, and as a child he was involved in labour at a brick kiln with his father.
He was rescued in the year 2007 by our activists and taken to Bal Ashram, a long term rehabilitation centre established by our founder, Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi. Rajesh was only 8 years old when he was rescued and was traumatised with all these years of labour and abuse. He also missed his parents but never wished to back to the brick kiln from where he was rescued. The activists of Bal Ashram and Shri Kailash Satyarthi put their heart and soul to make Rajesh realise that he was safe and in better care at Bal Ashram.
After being given initial non-formal education, he was finally enrolled into formal education in 5th standard. Since then there has been no looking back for Rajesh. In 2015 he secured 81% after completion of his 10th standard exam and in 2017 he graduated his 12th standard securing 82%.
Seeing his excellence in education and dedication towards other fields, Rajesh was enrolled under KSCF’s ‘Freedom Fellows Education Fund’ through which he is provided support for completing Bachelor of Science (Physical science with Electronics) degree from Rajdhani College, University of Delhi and is in his final year now.
