As a part of the literacy campaign, ‘Saksharta Vahini’, child leaders of KSCF’s BMGs™ in Koderma worked on a mission mode to ensure that every person in their village becomes literate. Koderma District Commissioner (DC) Mr. Aditya Ranjan guided the child leaders to make this campaign a success by organizing training workshops and encouraging the children to accomplish the mission. The campaign was launched in September 2022 and in Just four months, the BMG™ children were able to ensure 100% literacy in their village.

Additionally, Mr. Dhanpal Singh, KSCF’s staff who is working closely with the Koderma District Administration, received an award from the DC for his outstanding contribution towards strengthening the child protection mechanism in the district.

KSCF has been working in the Mica mining regions of Jharkhand and Bihar (including Koderma) since 2005 and has made 521 villages child-friendly through its Bal Mitra Gram™ (Child Friendly Village™) programme. The implementation of the BMG™ programme ensured that all the children in these villages are in school and are protected from child labour, child trafficking, child marriage and other forms of exploitation.
