Jharkhand: KSCF Organises Menstrual Health Awareness Programme In Koderma’s Bangakhalar Village

Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation and the Health Department of Koderma district jointly organized an awareness programme on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 28 May 2022. Adolescent girls and women of the Bangakhalar Panchayat participated in the programme.

Block Programme Manager Monazeer Hasan and Bangakhalar’s Gram Panchayat President Mr Shiv Shankar Rai were invited as the Chief Guests for the programme.

During the programme, Mr Hasan shared why World Menstrual Health Day is celebrated and emphasised the fact that menstruation is a natural process that every female goes through. He urged everyone to openly discuss any issues related to it. Mr Hasan also highlighted that the usage of sanitary napkins during menstruation is safe and easy.

Apart from this, Mr Hasan made people aware of the Central Government’s Menstrual Hygiene Scheme. He also shared his contact number with the audience and informed that he would be available 24/7 in case of any health emergency. Mr Hasan assured everyone that he would organize a health camp soon.

KSCF’s associates too addressed some menstruation-related questions raised by adolescent girls and women present during the session. The associates advised them to eat timely, maintain basic hygiene, and seek medical help in case of severe abdominal or back pains during periods.
