RESEARCH AND POLICY RESEARCH

The Research and Policy Research Division of the Institute aims to address data and evidence gaps in child protection, education, and health and nutrition through primary and secondary research, and public engagement and outreach.

In addition to the research work, the Division has taken the initiative to collaborate with universities for the purpose of dissemination of knowledge on all issues relating to child protection & development. Another integral component of this partnership is the establishment of the “Centre for Child Rights” in these universities. These Centers shall conduct Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree programmes as well as research on topics/themes relating to child protection, education, health and nutrition.

Amity University, SRM University, Assam University, BML Munjal University (Haryana) are a few among many universities with which MoUs have been signed for the purpose.

The division also works towards identifying gaps in policies, devises realistic solutions, drafts recommendations and takes up focused policy initiatives to ensure that the policy framework in the country serves the interests of children and their well-being. Studies conducted by the foundation and the support/suggestions provided to the Central and State Governments have helped in strengthening various child protection laws and policies, a few recent ones being the following:

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act, 2019

Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Rules, 2020

National Tracking System for Missing and Vulnerable Children

Madhya Pradesh Juvenile Justice Rules,
2020

Research Commons

In line with our vision of a child-friendly world where all children are free, educated, and healthy, Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF) has designed and launched a web-based global platform ‘Research Commons on Children’ to host all evidence-based information, including but not limited to research papers both published and unpublished, articles and monographs about child protection, child education and child health & nutrition. It also has a separate space for child-friendly content in the form of videos, animations, IEC material on children, which children themselves will consume.

The Research Commons On Children is envisioned to create an open portal for readers and contributors to create awareness and raise the discourse on issues relating to children by enabling a multidimensional, interdisciplinary and free-flowing dialogue among stakeholders, thinkers, researchers and academicians. Research Commons on Children shall propagate plurality of thoughts, ideas and action. It aims to become a platform that embraces multiple perspectives, opinions, and research methodologies and enables its readers to arrive at their own thoughts/conclusions.
